Where for example a right hand batsman is facing a right arm bowler, the standard setup is where the shoulders and feet are aligned to the opposite stumps. If the bowler had to change their approach to the other side of the stumps, the batsman’s shoulders and feet should be aligned approximately towards the release point of the bowler.

A common mistake is for a batsman to be closed in the stance. Having a closed stance makes it extremely hard to access straighter deliveries.
